WestMass ElderCare is a private, non-profit agency, located in Holyoke MA. since 1974. Our mission is “to preserve the dignity, independence, and quality of life of elders and disabled persons desiring to remain within their own community.” We offer a variety of services for elders, their families and caregivers, and persons with disabilities, so that they can remain in their homes and avoid institutionalization. The agency offers a full range of information and services. WestMass ElderCare’s main service area includes Holyoke, Chicopee, Granby, South Hadley, Ludlow, Belchertown and Ware; as well as many other outlying communities.
WestMass ElderCare (WMEC) is designated by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs as an Aging Services Access Point and an Area Agency on Aging.
WestMass ElderCare has a strong network of relationships with local and statewide organizations working to assist elders and persons with disabilities to maintain independence at home. WestMass ElderCare contracts with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs to provide a variety of state and federally funded programs, the largest being the Home Care Program and the Nutrition Program. WMEC contracts with more than 40 provider agencies for services such as personal care homemaking, chore service, adult day health and personal emergency response.
WestMass ElderCare contracts with MassHealth to offer Adult Foster Care, Personal Care Management and Group Adult Foster Care. We partner as the specialist in long term support services with Senior Care Options, One Care and PACE Programs.
WestMass ElderCare involves community members through its Board of Directors, Citizens Advisory Council, Money Management Advisory Council, and Nutrition Program Advisory Council. These groups advise and comment on issues affecting elders and persons with disabilities in our region.
