What is it? The Elder Nutrition Program, headed by the Older Americans Act, is one of the most visible federal programs for elders. What does it do? The Nutrition Program provides a nutritionally balanced, hot, noon meal to seniors age 60+, Monday through Friday, at either a congregate mealsite or delivered to their homes. Weekend and evening meals may also be provided for those who need them. A voluntary donation is requested.

Often, the meal driver is the only person the elder sees on a regular basis. Drivers may help to communicate the elders' needs to appropriate referral sources.
